This year’s NFL draft featured Lake Braddock alum Matthew Hibner who was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens as the 33rd pick in round 4, marking an exciting step for the Lake Braddock football program.
"I had a feeling that Baltimore might be the place," Hibner said in a post draft, on-camera interview. "I'm so looking forward to it, I can't wait."
Hibner, who wore number 88 for the Bruins, graduated in 2020 and went on to play at University of Michigan and then most recently for SMU Mustangs. The Bruins went 10-3 when he was on the varsity team before graduating that spring. While at Lake Braddock High School, Hibner was a straight-A student who had a 4.3 GPA and scored a 1400 on his SAT. He was also an Eagle Scout.
According to the Ravens, Hibner will fill a void due to his versatility as a receiver and blocker.
"The Ravens believe he'll be a valuable piece in Offensive Coordinator Declan Doyle's scheme. They will try to take advantage of the 6-foot-4, 250-pound Hibner and his ability to cause matchup problems," wrote Clifton Brown, the BaltimoreRavens.com staff writer.
In 2021, Tristan Leigh, a Robinson High School alum, was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings.
